Never Stuck In One Place
2023
Conceived as a songwriter's portfolio, Keely Burn's latest EP, Never Stuck In One Place, follows up on her sensitive and varied 2021 release, Not My Masterpiece, with further forays into eclecticism and genre writing. The pulsating funk throwback "Mine," acoustic travelogue "No Moss On This Stone," intense introspection of "Unsteady" and searing indictment of "Weekend Activist" reveal Burn to be stretching her wings and throwing styles at the wall to see what sticks, all the while anchored by her sturdy backing band, The Tea Lights.
Not My Masterpiece
2021
Keely Burn's full-length debut- a teenage dream realized. From the lush empowerment anthem “Out of the Flood" to the moody electronics of "Broken Heart," Burn displays a flirtatious relationship with the idea of genre, and she brings out a tongue-in-cheek streak on “Cute Girls With Glasses,” dedicated to all the “manic pixie dream girls” who attract obsessive men. The album’s opener, “Not Afraid,” begins with the line “It’s a learning process to trust yourself in your own skin.” That may be true, but Burn’s willingness to explore broad horizons of songwriting and unwillingness to pin herself down in regards to genre suggests that this process won’t hold her down for too long.
I've Never Been More Aware
2019
Keely Burn's first foray into studio recording, completed in her senior year of college on Long Island. "The Spirit Is In Me" presents Burn at her most ambitious, conceiving a dystopian world where two lovers only have each other on whom to rely. "When I'm Acting," meanwhile, shows her at her most vulnerable. Rousing folk-pop romp "Come Down Love" and the upbeat-yet-melancholy title track round out this EP.
Lightning Eyes
2015
The self-made Lightning Eyes EP is a collection of songs written from 2014 to 2015 and recorded mainly in a college dorm. Most of the songs are about romantic love and the importance of being cautious in a relationship, moving on after heartbreak, and the quick-burning flame of passion. The final track, "Wake Up!" describes exploring another level of reality in an unconscious state- i.e., dreaming.
